Fresh Legal 500 praise for Boys & Maughan's family and property litigation teams

Boys & Maughan’s family and property litigation teams have once again been recognised in The Legal 500, following publication of the 2027 edition of the leading guide to UK law firms.

The firm’s family team is described by The Legal 500 as sizeable and well-established, with expertise spanning financial remedy proceedings, children disputes and cross-border matters.

Jonathan da Costa is once again named as a Recommended Lawyer. The guide particularly highlights his work for high-net-worth clients whose divorces involve corporate structures, investments and property interests.

The family team’s commitment to helping clients resolve issues without going to court is also recognised. The Legal 500 highlights its collaborative law work, while feedback gathered from clients and professional contacts praises the breadth of expertise within the department and the range of non-court dispute resolution options it can offer.

One testimonial describes the service as “excellent and very personal”, while another praises the team for working collaboratively and providing a service tailored to clients’ individual circumstances.

Among the work highlighted this year is a significant Resolution Together matter involving assets worth around £2 million, including property in England and Spain, pensions and other cross-border considerations.

Boys & Maughan’s property litigation team has also received further recognition in the latest edition.

Andrew Baker, Richard Giles, George Orton and Joana Daraskeviciute are named as Recommended Lawyers. Joana left Boys & Maughan in August and joined a firm in Gillingham.

The property litigation team acts for commercial and private clients across a range of contentious property matters. It has particular experience in boundary disputes and possession proceedings, while The Legal 500 also draws attention to Andrew’s work involving landlord and tenant matters, construction disputes and property-related professional negligence.

George Orton receives particularly warm feedback from one referee, who describes him as a “tower of strength” during an extremely difficult time and praises his knowledge, professionalism and competence.

Other feedback highlights the property litigation team’s professionalism, technical ability and calm, practical approach. Referees also praise its clear communication, responsiveness and personal service, together with the team’s focus on finding practical solutions for clients.

Among the team’s recent work highlighted by The Legal 500 is a complex £1 million wills and property dispute involving a residential property and adjoining industrial estate, including questions of ownership, estate administration and tax.
