Children Law team highlights growing Nitazene risks

At Boys and Maughan, we take pride in looking after the best interests of our local community. Recently, Karen Perreau and Kirsty McGhee, from our Children Law team, had the opportunity to visit The Forward Trust’s local hub, just a stone’s throw from our Margate office.

The Forward Trust is a UK charity that helps people whose lives have been affected by addiction, offending, homelessness or long-term unemployment.

During their visit, Karen and Kirsty learnt about the growing threat posed by Nitazenes in East Kent and beyond.

Many people may not be aware of Nitazenes - a group of extremely powerful synthetic opioids. There has been a significant increase in related fatalities and overdoses, often linked to recreational drug use or counterfeit pills bought online. Worryingly, there have also been reports of cheap vapes laced with these dangerous substances.

If you, or someone you care about, is struggling with addiction or you are concerned about the risks associated with drug use, help is available. Speak to your GP or get in touch with your local drug and alcohol support service.

The Forward Trust works with individuals across the UK who wish to overcome drug or alcohol dependency and make positive changes in their lives. They also offer advice and support to the friends and families of those affected by substance misuse. Other local and national support services are also available.
