Boys & Maughan’s property litigation and family lawyers have achieved listings in the 2022 edition of legal industry guide, The Legal 500, appearing in its rankings as amongst the best in Kent, Surrey and Sussex.

The Legal 500 additionally identified Andrew Baker, Jonathan da Costa, Paul Reeves, Matt Champ and Max Konarek amongst its individual Recommended Lawyers.

Boys & Maughan’s property litigators are singled out for particular praise and we are summed up as “one of the go-to firms in the Kent area for real estate litigation.”

The editorial for this team explains how they act for an array of commercial clients and individuals in contentious proceedings, including those heard at the Court of Appeal. Andrew Baker is described as having “several decades of dispute resolution experience” and a “diverse client base chiefly made up of building contractors, landlords, developers and professional advisers.” Paul Reeves’ main focus is defined as “various landlord and tenant issues, including leasehold enfranchisement.”

Matt Champ is singled out for glowing praise, noting how following his promotion to partner in 2019, he has advocated on numerous occasions before the High Court and the Court of Appeal, with injunctive relief proceedings being a key specialism. A testimonial for Matt states: “Matthew Champ is the stand-out property litigator. He deals with a very wide range of real property issues, from commercial telecoms disputes to trusts of land. He brings to all of them a strong commitment to his client, a willingness to work very hard, and an ability to engage well with opponents and bring them to the table.”

The editorial for our Family team talks about how it is skilled in representing parents and children in matters regarding divorce, separation and care proceedings. Jonathan da Costa is described as regularly advising clients on their business interests, investments and pensions in the context of divorce settlements. The editors add that Max Konarek has specialisms in handling non-accidental injuries, sexual and physical abuse, neglect and jurisdictional matters and note his “strong connections with local communities in Thanet.”
