Andrea Bartholomew
Andrea is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives and an accredited Resolution specialist family lawyer.
Andrea offers appointments in person or via Zoom, depending on your preference, and can be contacted directly on 01843 269281.
Resolution is a national organisation of family law professionals who are committed to helping families resolve issues in a constructive and positive way. Andrea fully embraces this ethos and is known for her practical, supportive and non-confrontational approach, always working to achieve fair solutions without unnecessary court proceedings.
Andrea is authorised under the Legal Services Act 2007 to conduct litigation in family proceedings.
Andrea has wide-ranging experience of advising across all areas of family law, including:
- Financial arrangements following divorce and separation – helping clients reach outcomes that are fair and tailored to their needs
- Children disputes – supporting both mothers and fathers in resolving child arrangements
- Separation agreements – formalising financial matters upon separation
- Cohabitation agreements – advising on agreements at the beginning of a relationship and when cohabitation comes to an end
- Nuptial agreements – providing advice on and drafting pre- and post-nuptial agreements
- Consent orders – drafting, reviewing and advising on consent orders for both financial remedy and child arrangements
Andrea can support you with every legal aspect of your separation. She also offers unbundled services, sometimes referred to as “pay as you go” family law support. This can be a cost-effective option for clients who do not require full representation but would still like expert guidance on particular stages of their case. Typical examples include:
- Advice limited to financial matters arising from relationship breakdown
- Drafting or reviewing consent orders and separation agreements.
With this approach, clients pay Andrea’s hourly rate as the work is carried out, rather than in advance or at the end of their matter. Andrea is happy to discuss the advantages and limitations of this arrangement to help clients decide if it is suitable for them.
Clients value Andrea for being professional, efficient and trustworthy, while also approachable, kind and understanding. She is dedicated to supporting people through what are often very difficult times, in a way that reduces conflict and stress.
Andrea began her career at Boys & Maughan in 1995, qualifying as a legal executive the following year and becoming a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives. She worked in our Margate office until 2018 before gaining further experience with another Kent firm, and re-joined Boys & Maughan in 2020 as a highly respected member of our family team.
