Make a will and help Pilgrims Hospices

People across east Kent are being urged to make their will as a number of local solicitors, including Boys & Maughan, have waived their usual fees in exchange for a donation to Pilgrims Hospices.

The Wills fortnight runs from Monday 21 October until Friday 1 November 2013. Most people are aware they should make a will but it’s one of those things we all put off. Here is an opportunity to get it done and help a major local charity at the same time.

At Boys & Maughan we are waiving our will-writing fees and asking people to make a donation to the hospice instead. The suggested donation is £75 for a single will and £100 for a mirror will. More complex wills need to be referred to a solicitor to agree a fee.

Pauline Donkin, Legacy and In Memoriam fundraiser for Pilgrims Hospices said:  “None of us want to think about it but making a will is the only way to ensure your wishes are carried out when you are no longer here. Making a will ensures your family and friends are looked after. There is no obligation to include Pilgrims in your will, but if you choose to do so, we would be very grateful.  Including a gift to Pilgrims Hospices will ensure local people with life-limiting conditions are looked after in years to come.

“To provide all services free of charge across the three hospices costs £28,000 each day, currently 18% is raised through legacy giving.

“We are enormously grateful to all the local solicitors who are giving their time so generously in support of Pilgrims Hospices.”
