Power of Attorney registration fee refunds

You could be due a refund of up to £54 if you registered a Power of Attorney in England or Wales between April 2013 and March 2017.

Under a new Government scheme announced on 2 February 2018, those who paid a registration fee for a Lasting Power of Attorney or Enduring Power of Attorney in that period can apply for a partial refund because they were charged more than was necessary.

A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) is a legal document which allows you, while you still have the mental capacity to do so, to nominate a trusted friend or relative to look after your affairs if you lose capacity.

For full details of who can claim, how much you can get and to start a claim see the Government Claim a Power of Attorney page.

If you don't have an LPA and are interested in making one we can assist at any of our five local offices. Just look up our team and give one of them a call to talk through your needs.
